Kicking a dead horse: Salesforce to be purchased by Microsoft?
March 4, 2008
The rumored sale of Salesforce.com continues to spark posts around the web. At this point, almost a full month after the original outbreak of posts foretelling that Salesforce was being sold to Oracle, I kind of feel like we’re kicking a dead horse here…
Techcrunch’s Michael Arington posted recently about the challenges Microsoft faces as it moves into the cloud computing/SaaS arena. Arington points out that Salesforce would be a likely candidate for either MS or Google to absorb.
The Silicon Valley Insider posted follows a similar line of questioning, pointing out that it’s not likely MS will consume Salesforce while attempting to devour Yahoo.
I’m on the edge of my seat to see who comes can get the next SFDC purchase rumor going. If you plan on taking a stab at it, at least, for the love of god, come up with something original…Google, MS, Oracle…we’ve heard all of those already..

Got something to say?

(AP) SAN FRANCISCO - After rumors of purchase by Oracle and Microsoft, Salesforce.com has confirmed that it will be purchased by my dad.
“Oh, I’m pretty excited. It’s a nifty little company,” said my dad. “I keep hearing about how Salesforce.com is sass, but gosh, everybody I met there was real polite.”
Retirement hasn’t been kind to my dad, a former airline pilot forced to turn in his wings once he hit the mandated no-fly age of 62. After golf, sailing, and bridge lost their excitement, my dad turned towards mergers and acquisitions.
“Gomez’s dad may not share our vision of the end of software,” said Marc Benioff, founder and CEO of Salesforce.com. “But,” Benioff chuckles, “he tells the best joke about a nun, a duck, and a proctologist….”
The exact terms of the purchase have not been disclosed. It’s been suggested that three of Gomez’s mom’s prize-winning cheesecakes are being hotly negotiated.
exactly….
